When reflecting on this assignment, I would say that everything went smoothly. To elaborate, I didn’t think that it was too intensive and since I was familiar with the topic that my group and I had, I wasn’t as distressed as I thought I was going to be while completing this project. Overall, I’d say that I had a positive experience working on the assignment. When it came to choosing our roles, we decided the best route to go would be to divide the questions that had to be answered between the three of us. This method worked out beautifully because there were 8 questions which meant that 2 of us would do 3 questions while the last person would do 2. I decided to do the first three questions and I thought that I was able to answer them adequately because they were fairly straightforward and after having read the article multiple times, I was confident when responding to them.

Communication is the most important aspect when working in a group setting and my group and I had no issues when it came down to reaching out to one another. We met two times to discuss our project, the first time we met was through discord where we divided and conquered each of the questions and set up a google slide presentation to transfer all of our work onto. The second time we met, we just briefly reviewed the work that we completed on the slides. One thing that I think I did well on this assignment was checking in with my group members so we could go over the work that we did and one thing I want to improve on is asking my peers more questions when I’m confused. In terms of challenges, other than becoming less nervous when it comes to presenting , I personally didn’t have many because I was able to complete my work and do what was required for this assignment.

When reviewing the benefits of being in a group with people that I didn’t know, one of them was how I got to interact on a closer level with classmates that I otherwise wouldn’t have. Coming into this class, I knew no one so I also liked that I was randomly sorted into a group. The biggest advice that I have to other groups working on this activity is that communication is the key because If you’re not talking with your peers, you won’t be able to complete the work coherently and to the best of your abilities. Another important thing is being able to distribute the workload as evenly as possible so it won’t seem like such a grudging task. A goal I’d like to set for myself is to always complete my assignments ahead of time or more specifically, at least 3 days before the due date. Lastly, a major thing that I learned from this project was that even when you divide the work, it’s important to still work as a team to ensure that the end result is well put together. I’ll apply this same takeaway to any other collaborative projects I have in the future such as the Children’s book/PSA assignment that is coming up.
